Using the ALT+V feature with Chromebooks

Hitting ALT+V at the login screen on a Chromebook logon screen displays the Chrome OS version, SN and Asset tag if you have it added in the G Console.

However you can use GAM to update the Asset ID field to provide even more information in these lines. Based on the GAM command listed below you can update the field with additional information such as OU and last user.


/bin/gam/gam print cros allfields full | /bin/gam/gam csv - gam update cros ~deviceId assetId "~~orgUnitPath~~/~~annotatedLocation~~ Recent: ~~recentUsers.0.email~~ Last Sync: ~~lastSync~~"

Placing the command in a batch file and running it each morning keeps the data field updated and provides a really useful troubleshooting tool.
